Dilemma of works..

Suddenly not being that happy. Slightly down going mood. haha! Then, this thought come into my mind. What do we think about doctor? Although i haven't become doctor.. this are things that came into my mind..

A doctor is someone or involved in:
  1. Superior to normal people vs inferior in the hierachy of medical profession (at least for the first few years)
  2. Caring vs Emotional
  3. Ethical vs Laws
  4. Tried all his/her best vs being greedy
  5. Do good vs Do harm
  6. Earns a lot vs not enough earnings
  7. Good doctor vs Bad doctor
  8. Ego vs confidence

We all see things differently. Everydays, we do have different kind of feelings and different points of view. Same to the people around us. No matter how good we are, sure there are complaints from others. No matter how bad we are, sure there are someone appreciate our hardworks.

In the end of the day, the most important thing is.. we tried our best and no matter what's the outcome, WE HAD TRIED OUR VERY BEST....

Feeling bad to those patients..

Final exam soon. Will be on 23rd march 2009 onwards. All the students are desperately practising on short cases and long cases in UMMC. I am sure those lecturers and patients also notice that students are quite active recently.

Good thing is.. we are much more hardworking than usual days. Bad thing is.. we will catch whoever that owns clinical findings in the hospital. A patient calculated how many medical students in total that had examined him in UMMC. The figure was 66 when goes to 1 of my colleagues. By the way, I think i haven't caught this patient yet.

If you step into UMMC now, sure you will met with any medical students anywhere in the hospital. just because.. WE ARE ACTIVE NOW..

Loves and Cares..

Recently, James posted up a Note in his facebook talking about a single mother patient with end-stage breast cancer who has a 5 year old daughter. She had settle with her daughter adoption before she is in her critical condition. I had saw this patient 3 months ago in the palliative team. At that time, what this patient was planning and doing is all for the benefits of her daughter. She wish to leave for few months more in order to celebrate her daughter birthday. Just before she is going to sleep for a long time, she wish to be discharged with all the supportive machines disconnected so that she can leave a lovely impression to her daughter before she passed away! What a touching real life story decribing how great a mother can be!

Today, I see how bad a daughter in law and children can be! Patient is an old age lady with a fracture of the hip (neck of femur). She needs a surgery and her condition is not encouraging as she had heart problem. So, the risk of anaesthesia will be extremely high. It happens that the daughter in law is the only one there. According to her, she is representing the whole family and she need to ask in details so that she can "REPORT" to the this patient's children. Can't really imagine that she use the word "REPORT" as those children never care about their own mother at all. Probably they are busy. But, I think if they concerns about their mother or loves their mother, they would have come to the hospital to see her condition instead of listening to the great reporter's REPORT! What ashame of this attitude!

Things become more irritating is when we inform her about the risk of anaesthetic, it seems like it doesn't bother her at all. She said she underwent a heart operation 2 years ago and same things had been told to her 2 years ago. Her mother-in-law remains ok after the operation and nothing happened. Come on, I do not expect an old lady will remain as fit as 2 years ago! I am sure she is weak enough then only she slipped down when she try to stand up. If she would had strong enough, sure she wouldn't had fractured her hip.

Sometimes, I really felt that involvement in medical professions does allow me to see more things. It allows me to see how beautiful a human can be and how ugly a human can be! As usual, I do felt that a sense of loves and cares would be good enough to provide sufficient moral supports to the patient.

In certain occasions, we do see patient brought in from nursing home/old-folks home. The funny parts is their children seems to know nothing at all when we tried to get some past-medical history or history of presenting illness. Huh.. really feels that this community needs more LOVES and CARES....

Being A Temporary Mechanic

Things are different nowadays. We have to learn and know many things. Being a medical student also must know a bit a bit about a car.. hopefully next time not only can treat human, but also can treat a car. If being a doctor cannot cari makan, still can work as a part-time mechanic ma.
Haha! This reminds me on my SPA (suruhanjaya perkhidmatan awam) interview. I was asked by the DATO: "do you think economic recession can affect you? and are you really to TANAM SAYUR when malaysia have too many doctors and no more vacancies for young doctor???" huh...
Within 2 weeks, i had involve in 2 incidents about car. The very first one was a punctured tyre. My car was PUNCTURED in PJ. huh.. then ended up have to change the tyre by the roadside. luckily, the rain started once i am done with it. huh!

The next incident is not my car la.. but it was my neighbour's car. Sam's car ended up with a problem with his water tank. We were just came back from supper and the car ended up with lots of smokes in front of college. Sounds like recently a lot of smokes... sure Chuan Huan will understand what i mean..

On the next morning, we did some physical examination and investigation. We think there is a leak on one of the major vessels(main paip) where the water flow into the heart (engine) from the peripheral (water tank). So, we were very happy and snapped some photos and bring those photos to a mechanic in PJ. The uncle was really nice. We presented the finding to him and he said it is a simple procedure. He just gave us a suitable paip and ask us to change the paip on our own. If really cannot then only call him. by the way, he let us go with his spare parts before we pay him! huh..

After 45 minutes of operation, both of us also stained badly with the oil inside the engine compartment. And finally, we manage to cut of the main vessels and change with a new vessels. The car has finally gone back to normal.

This is the main reason of the SMOKEs...
