Cameron highland gathering

Oops, look like i forgotten my blog for quite some time again. Haha. Well, it is now 2010 and i think should wish all of you a Happy New Year.
Just came down from cameron highland 2 days 1 night trip with few fellows. After working for the past 6 to 7 months, we hardly meet each other anymore. I think the last met was in august 2008, during our convocation. Anyway, everyone was busy that time and guest this is such a wonderful trip where we can spend time together, after so long.
The trips was started with an idea of having gathering... hehe.. of couse, someone suggested BROGA hill.. haha.. which we think very crowded nowadays and we finally come out with cameron. After 2 months of plannings, we finally come to cameron highland and had a great gathering there. Of course, we eat non-stop. hehe! The initial plan is for more than this numbers. But few of them didn't join us even though being invited. Guest what, they are just like the strawberries in our mouth.. haha!! make them regret for not joining. hehe! sounds so evil, rite?
So, here are what we had in cameron highlands. of cause, we have more than this. basically, we spent time eating and eating only. the cooling weather in cameron make us get hungry easier and we just enjoy our meals all the time. hehe!
If you realise.. those photos are really nice. rite? thanks to our PROFESSIONAL CAMERAMAN.. Sam sam skills is very good now. When we view those pictures.. we were asking each other.. eh.. those plants are such beautiful mehhhhhhhhhhh??? haha!
Haha. sorry to Meng Hsien. Forgotten to view what he had snap before edit this blog. Haha. Meng Hsien is another great cameraman also. Always snap lots of nice photos. Must really learn from them regarding snapping photos la. Anyway, 2 days and 1 night pass really fast. We did enjoy ourself. But, tomorrow will be a working day again.. haih.. can't wait for the 2nd gathering.. hahaha!! cheers la...

meals..

working in labour room recently. Basically, it is an excited but dangerous area. Dangerous in the way where we are managing 2 lifes at the same time. However, it is fun to see those mothers delivered their baby safely.
However, working in labour room also means that we cannot go out for lunch. The moment we start work, we have to stay in the labour room until the time when we are off. With these, all the meals will be fully supplied to us. Most of the time, I will only have my breakfast and lunch at around 3+ pm.
Hospital foods......... haha.. lots of people hate it, rite? but i personally like our hospital food quite much. =) at least, i think better than 6th college le. But, i do realise that patient's food is even better than mine. May be theirs will be tasteless especially when we have to eat diabetic diet or less salt diet.
Out of so many days diet.. i like the fried rice the most.. hehe.. it is friday lunch le.. which is today.. see.. look so healthy, rite?

haha.. but realise that today they didn't serve me the fried egg together with my fried rice.. WHO STOLD MY FRIED EGG?? anyway, today is a crazy day.. wack 1 nasi lemak together with this fried rice as my lunch... huhuh.. hope will gain back my 6kg lo......... huhhu

Working life..

started working for 4 months d. Started feelings tired due to the hectic life. Huh.. but really can't imagine that we actually passed the 4 months so fast. Which means we are moving to the second posting now. So, it is time for me to say bye bye to ORTHOPAEDIC. To be honest, i feel that it was a interesting and great posting. Hehe. Now moving toward Obs and Gynae. Hopefully can survive in this coming posting. hehe.
Of course, we tends to become lazy after starting work. Hehe. Same thing happen to me. My life currently ended up with working and eating and sleeping, which is very much different from my life as a medical student. I no longer having supper every night (sounds like really healthy), sleep at 11pm every nights (sounds very early), wake up at 6am every days (sounds very hardworking). No longer got enough time for me to watchh tonnes of movies. No longer play any sports. Huh. guest what, despite eating so much, my weight has been in the declining trend. I lost 6 kg within first two months of working which is what we called as significant weight lost where i lost more than 10% within 3 months. HUHU.. yet, it is ORTHOPAEDIC only.. not sure how much i have for me to lose in the coming O&G posting.
Haih.. after tomorrow then will have to tagging in O&G d. thinking of EOD tagging for 2 weeks already feel tonnes of tiredness waiting for me. haih.. anyway.. hope everythings going to be fine. okla.. good luck to all of you and hope i have more time to blog la.. heheh...

Foots..

Working in orthopaedic department as a HO now. Basically, we are dealing with quite a lot of fractures and also diabetic foot. Let me talk a little bit more about this diabetic foot today.
Basically, diabetes patient has to take good care of their sugar level. This can actually delay the progression of developing multiple complications of diabetes. One of the known complication is diabetic foot. Basically, the foot doesn't have the ability to recover even with a small wound/crack. had been seeing quite a few of patients with diabetic foot for the past few weeks.
Ended up, the foot might need to be amputated. It is sad to say that, we see quite a lot of youngster nowadays that ended up having the toes being amputated due to diabetes. Somehow, i think that there is some problem with our lifestyle which causing the diabetes to occur in a younger age group nowadays. Come on, if i am the patient, i don't want my toes to be amputated at the age of 30's.
For those elder age-group, some of them are really lacking in knowledge regarding hygiene. They seems to never take good care of themselves even though they are in hospital. They look so untidy and unkempt even though they just stay in the ward.
Basically, diabetes patient do adviced to take good care of their foot through a proper foot care method. For example, wash foot everyday and dry it with towel. At the same time, inspect the leg for any wounds or injuries. Guest this should be learn properly so that they will appreciate the pleassure legs.
Prevention is always better than cure. I do believe a change in our lifestyle might be required to prevent us from getting this disease in a young age group. Together we should change our lifestyle into a healthier lifestyle in order to prevent this disease.

What do you feel when u step into a HOSPITAL??

HOSPITAL.. sounds like a big word. a serious place. Most of the people especially chinese doesn't like to go to hospital because they feel HOSPITAL is "dirty". The word dirty = spirits. With these mind set, Chinese generally doens't like to go to hospital.
But, I do realize that it's different as compared to the Malays. Their family bonding is so strong until they bring the whole family to the hospital when they come to visit someone. I will always use the discription.. "picnic". Since i was in medical student, I saw lots of crowds in hospital especially during weekends. Most of them were Malays and most of them are sitting all around the corner of the hospital and enjoying the food which they brought together when they come to visit their family members. May be this is what we need in the society in order to build a loving society.
When you come to hospital, everyone came with a different kinds of feelings at all the time. Some of the patient will feels.. "haih.. need to come to hospital again." But some might feels.. "yeah.. i am coming to hospital again.. and i so happy to see those doctors again.."
For a visitor.. they might have different feeling in different visits. In the first 2 visits, they feel anxious about they friends/family members condition. After few visits, they start feeling bored in hospital and start asking to be discharged.
But for a doctor, I think we don't have much feeling.
The first moment when i step into Klang hospital when i enter clinical year, I was told that Klang hospital had been described as Pearl Harbour Hospital because of overloading of patients. Then, I felt anxious about what going to happen in the next few years when i started working as a doctor. Slowly, hospital had become my home. The place where i stay had become the second home as I spent more time in hospital rather than at home. Now, Stepping into hospital in any part of the country will just mean nothing. It is yet still a home for people like us...

A new chapter of my life..

It is now a new chapter of my life. The first time i am writing this blog after i started working in hospital. So, guest i should describe briefly on what am i doing for the past 1 week, rite?
Working doesn't like studying. I am now in Hospital Teluk Intan Ortho department. I was posted into this posting together with Dr. Punitan, a new friend of mine from Ipoh. So, both of us kind of very fresh kids in these department.
Basically, when you work as a HO, you have lots of responsibilities. You have to really understand and take care of ur patient. No longer like last time.. clerk the patient then can just cabut after ward round presentation.
Taggers in this posting require eod tagging call. and my working hours is from 6.45am to 5.00pm. For example, if i on call on monday, then i will have to start working on 6.45am(mon) till 5.00pm(mon) as a routine. then will follow with on call tagging until the next day 6.45am(tues) and continue with tuesday work until 5.00pm(tues). then wed will repeat the cycle again and thursday only can go back home. Here, we were required to do at least 2 weeks of tagging which means 7 days on call.. So, we are really lacking of time for ourselves. My patients started to ask me.. Doctor, you never go back home ar...???
Becoming a HO do have lots of paper work. Then, we need to know how to communicate not only with our patients, but also to our boss and our colleagues. Of course, all of us do screwed up. But after 9 days of working, slowly I am adapting to it d.
Here, we also have lots of exam. And we must really try hard to pass those exam as failing the exam will cause some punishment to your service. Huh.. sounds quite stressful, rite? However, I do like what am I doing right now. At least, I am seeing patients and I am trying my best with my knowledge and SMILES to help them. Hopefully they do feel satisfied with it.
The journey had just started and it is a long long never-ending journey. But i do hope that this will be a happy ending journey... =)
